Marketing Online Requires Genuine Concern for the Audience
Your online marketing communications are meant for your target audience. It naturally follows that you should KNOW who comprise your target audience. If you are an architect’s firm, who do you suppose are your audience? People who pay for an architect’s services. Likewise, if you are an IT firm, who do you suppose are your audience?
Now get out there on the WWW and find out what these people are looking for. Only, it is not quite as easy as it sounds. Your online marketing team needs to understand how the target audience is using online resources and where the target audience is headed on the information superhighway.
Here’s a reinvented look at how your online marketing staff must attempt reaching the target audience:
- Marketing online requires your marketing team to determine where your target audiences are interacting. Preferred places are of course Google+, Facebook and Twitter, but don’t stop at those. There a good possibility that your target audience is using a social media platform that’s very specific to your vertical. Find out exactly which.
- You can no longer afford to not engage your audience online. You can also not afford to not monitor what is being said about your company. Use Google Alerts and other means to monitor all that is being said online. Participate in meaningful dialogue with the audience. Share your opinion and answer questions to show that you care. Online marketing should be always audience friendly.
- A standard keyword tool will help your online marketing team determine what, in connection with your services or products, your audience is looking for online. Having once found that, talk about it and see how your company can further facilitate the need. Create quality blog content on those topics. People will read anything that begins well and sustains interest. Alternately, if they prefer media channels such as YouTube, get a series of videos made that offer answers to as many of their questions as possible. Infographics and captioned or strip cartoons are also good ways to engage customers’ attention. Catch their eye, in short.
Overall, let your online marketing efforts reflect genuine concern for your audience’s concerns and requirements.
